KAPA‘A – At first, it looked like it would be a close one, but the Phillies jumped ahead in the third and piled it on to whip the Giants 14-5 in Kawaihau Community Little League majors action yesterday at beautiful Kapa‘a Ballpark.
In the top of the second with an Anson Vilatora and Mikey Cremer fielder’s choice, scoring James Padre and Braden Rapozo to put the Phillies up 2-0.
In the third frame, the Giants mounted a comeback with pitcher Tanner Shigeta pounding out an RBI single to get things going. Then, with the bases loaded, Mason Chock walked to score another run for the G-men. Aaron Nagao’s RBI single gave his team the lead for the first and last time.
Phillies player Willy Tafatafua blasted a 3-run RBI double to give his team the lead for good. Padre added a 2-RBI single and three more Phillie’s crossed the plate to make it 12-3 after four innings.
Both teams managed to add a couple of runs to their totals to make the final score, 14-5 in favor of the Phillies.
