Oahu’s Stephanie Kono captured the low medalist award, shooting a one-under-par 71 for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links at Wailua Golf Course on May 22.
Five other golfers, including an alternate (Hilo’s Megan Ueno) also qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship from June 22-27 at The Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Kaua‘i’s Miki Ueoka was the top hometown qualifier. Ueoka came in one shot behind Kono with an even-par 72. Also qualifying for the event were Lehua Wise of Lihu‘e (75), Ki‘ilani Matsuyoshi of Kapa‘a (78), and Hilo’s Whitney Ueno (80).
