As the parent/junior golfers invaded Wailua Golf Course on May 15, at times, it was hard to distinguish between the juniors and their partners.
However, over 80 golfers came together on the links to have some fun and enjoy the great golfing weather.
In any tournament, though, there are always winners. In the five divisions, the competitive spirit came out of the entire field.
Ralph Funinaka and Thad Fujii were the big winners of the day, picking up two top scores for low gross (70) and net score (62) in the 15-18 boys and girls division.
Barry and Billy Toy got second place honors with a net score of 66 and the team of Charlene Garcia and Kanoe Sakihama came in third with a 68.
In the 13-14 boys and girls division, the low gross score winners were Ryo and Cyrus Ogawa with 79. The top net score went to Marie and Grant Paiste with 62, followed by Sandra and Wiley Yoshioka with 65, and Marie and Byron Rualizo came in third with 65.
Gary and Malia Saiki was the top team in the 11-12 boys and girls division with the top low gross score of 89. Gary and Levi Miyashiro was the top combo with the lowest net score of 56, followed by Alma Yotsuda and Davis Kashima with 62, and in third, Nathan Nix and Michael Morris-Nix managed a 66.
In the 10 and under girls division, the team of Michael and Kelli Oride came out on top with the best low gross score of 78. The net score winners were Kenny and Kelly Meatoga with a 58, Steve and Alanna Bauman came in second by shooting a 64, and third place went to Patrick Balbarino and Breeann Cox-Abuan with a 68.
On the boys side of the 10 and under division, Roland and Dylan Balisacan shot the best low gross score with an 87. Tom and Reyn Morioka came up with the top net score of 58, Yoshihiro and Kaiton Sawada got the second best net score with a 65, and third place went to Shirley Tani and Jon Furusho with a 68.
