It was a great homecoming for Kamehameha’s Chris Caycayon, as the Kaua‘i resident felt right at home at Wailua Golf Course yesterday to shoot an even-par 72 to tie for the first place lead with Moanalua’s Ryan Perez after round one of the 2004 HHSAA/David S. Ishii Foundation boys state golf tournament.
Meanwhile, Mililani sits atop the team standings with a 317 after the opening round. King Kekaulike was one stroke behind with a team total of 318, and the hometown Red Raiders finished just two strokes behind in third place with a 319.
Waiakea and Castle rounded out the top five with respectable scores of 320 and 324.
