UH beats HPU
It came down to the wire with both teams tied at 7 a piece going into the 9th inning but, The University of Hawai’i baseball team managed to squeak by HPU 8-7 on Tuesday night. Shortstop Brian Finnegan led the Warriors with 3 hits and the Seawarriors were led by right fielder Tyler Ward with 2 hits and 3 RBI’s. UH hosts national champion Rice for a 3-game series, May 7-9.
Softball sign-ups
It’s registration time for the central girls softball league. Ages 10-18 may sign up on May 9 from Noon to 3 p.m. at Isenberg ballpark pavilion in Lihu’e. First timers need to bring a copy of their birth certificate. Registration fee will be $50 and will be collected at a later date. Kaua’i teams qualify for USTA championships
Three teams will try to put Kaua’i on the tennis map on Memorial Day weekend as they respresent the Garden Isle at the USTA’s Mixed League Sectional Championships on May 29-31, at the Kiahuna Tennis and Swim Club and Po’ipu Kai Tennis Club. Here are the qualifying teams:
6.0 Division – Hanalei Hurricanes

U.S. Amateur Public Links Qualifier for Kaua’i
The Kaua’i sectional qualifying, a 36-hole play, will be held at the Wailua Golf Course on Saturday, June 12.
