Ha‘ena to Hanalei walk/run coming
The Hanalei Canoe Club will host the 24th Annual Ha‘ena to Hanalei 8-mile Run/Walk/Relay as well as a 1-mile Youth Run on Saturday, June 5.
Run or walk the scenic North Shore of Kaua‘i, one of the world’s most beautiful courses.
The one mile Youth Run will start and finish at the Hanalei Pier.
Br-ing the family and enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast followed by an awards ceremony.

UH Hilo softball No. 5 in NCAA West
HILO, Hawai‘i — The University of Hawai‘i at Hilo women’s softball team moved up the to the fifth spot in the NCAA West Region Poll as of April 14.
Pacific West Conference member Western New Mexico University is in the top spot with a 33-8 record. Rounding out the top 10 in order are Humboldt State (38-10), Cal State Bakersfield (36-13), Cal State Dominguez Hills (27-14-2), UH Hilo (23-13), Grand Canyon (18-14), Seattle (14-10), Central Washington (17-12), San Francisco State (24-21) and UC San Diego (23-19).

808Golf TV announces its new edition of Hawai‘i Golf TV Show, The Ko Olina Golf Club Iron Golfer Challenge.
The show features the McLachlin vs. Wie proudly presented by the Ko Olina Resort & Marina.
The show will be a two-part show featuring Parker McLachlin vs. Michelle Wie head-to-head for nine holes.
Part 1 will premier Friday April 23 at 10:00 p.m. and Part 2 will premier Friday April 30 at 10 p.m. telecasted exclusively in Hawai‘i on OC16.
U.S. Girls‚ Junior Qualifier Scheduled At Mauna Lani
Qualifying for the 2004 U.S. Girls‚ Junior Championship will be held at Mauna Lani South Course on the Kohala Coast, on June 25. It is one of approximately 30 18-hole qualifiers for the Girls‚ Junior Championship that will be played from July 19 to 24 at Mira Vista Golf Club, Fort Worth, Texas.
Entries for the 2004 U.S. Girls‚ Junior Championship must be received by the United States Golf Association by May 26. The cost is $20 to enter. The championship is for female amateurs age 17 and under.
To obtain an entry application, call the USGA at (908) 234-2300 or download the entry blank from the USGA Web site at www.usga.org.
Entrants must have a Handicap Index not exceeding 18.4. Entrants may select one of approximately 30 qualifying sites.
Eighteen-hole qualifiers will be held nationwide from June 16 through June 30, with spots awarded at each site to fill the championship field of 156 players.
The championship format will be two rounds of stroke play, with the low 64 scorers advancing to single-elimination match play.
The Girls‚ Junior is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs.
