To: Governor Linda Lingle,
In The Garden Island newspaper of 3/26/2004 it is reported that you have released $3.5 million for by-pass road construction on the island of Kaua‘i. Are you aware that the County of Kaua‘i is planning to spend $20 million to $30 million of federal funds on a bicycle path that I suspect less than 100 people would use for transportation to and from work or shopping?
If possible, please contact the Kaua‘i County mayor to help him get the bike path money for highway construction. That would sure make a lot more sense, and be a better use of federal dollars, especially in these times of exorbitant gasoline prices.
