It was appropriate that leaders of the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated a membership milestone by getting leaders of a Koloa business cornerstone to join the association.
For generations Sueoka Store has given back to the Koloa and greater Kaua‘i community, be it through donations to Pop Warner or other worthy endeavors.
So it was fitting that owner Ernest Sueoka, by recently joining the Chamber, became the Chamber’s 500th member.
To mark the occasion, Chamber board members presented Sueoka and other store officials and employees gifts at the Koloa Road store location in the heart of Old Koloa Town.
A basket of homemade goodies from fellow Chamber member Mark Oyama of Mark’s Place in Puhi was presented to Sueoka and the store staff.
Sueoka Store owners have survived business downturns, mainly associated with hurricanes that visited in 1982 and 1992, and have continued finding niches like a popular snack bar that gets long lines at lunch six days a week, and various handmade foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, some found nowhere else but inside the family run store.
