I find it interesting that the high school representative to the Department of Education sent in a letter with grammatical errors. In a few previous letters from Kaua‘i High School students I observed the same thing. Clearly your system is failing us. How embarrassing when the DOE high school rep can not even write a literate letter to the newspaper. Something is wrong, whether we have one or multiple school boards. Our kids can’t speak and write correct English and that is what is required to succeed in today’s world, regardless of “cultural sensitivity” and political correctness. Validating pidgin and allowing spelling and grammar errors does a disservice to our youth.
