David Konno
David H. Konno of Koloa, died at home on Feb. 25, 2004 at the age of 77.
Born in Kapa‘a on July 20, 1926, he was the proprietor of Kauai Refrigeration.
He is survived by his wife, Asako; three sons, Aaron (Lydia) Konno of Koloa, Ivan (Lolita) Konno of Lihu‘e and Roger Konno of Guam; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Betty K. Kobayashi of Koloa; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service at 10 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Raymond Balai
Raymond Balai of Kapa‘a, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 21, 2004 at the age of 65.
Born in Hilo, Hawai‘i on Nov. 20, 1938, he was an equipment operator with Lihu‘e Plantation.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Brede) Balai; six sons, Thomas Balai of Kapa‘a, Hoanostakio Balai of Kapa‘a, Gilbert (Julieann) Balai Sr., of Anahola, Brady Balai of Honolulu, Joseph Balai of Honolulu and Earl (Tina) Balai Sr. of Kapa‘a; two daughters, Merlayne I. Low of Kapa‘a and Antoinette Balai of Honolulu; three brothers, Ismael (Bessy) Balai of Volcano, Hawai‘i, James Balai of Honolulu and Joseph Pinero of Honolulu; three sisters, Margaret (Richard) Tangaro of Reno Nevada, Frances (Mar) Murillo of Honolulu and Tina (Lawrence) Alamoot of Honolulu; in-laws, William A. Jr. and Juliette Brede of Anahola; 20 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kapa‘a Ward; service officiated by Bishop Ron Lee Velasco will begin at 11 a.m. Followed by burial at Kapa‘a Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Teresa O’Dolan
Teresa O’Dolan of Anahola, died in San Francisco, Calif. on Jan. 7, 2004 at the age of 53. She was born in Ireland on July 10, 1950.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Garcia of Anahola; son, Michael Tansey of Honolulu; daughter, Moira Garcia of Anahola; father, Robert O’Dolan; three brothers and two sisters, all of Ireland.
Burial was held at Templetown County, Wexford, Ireland on Jan. 19, 2004. A Kaua‘i memorial service will be held at a later date. Please call 822-5807 for more information.
Marcelina Bermudez
Marcelina Bermudez of Hanapepe, died Feb. 20, 2004, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 80.
A homemaker, she was born April 19, 1913, in the Philippines.
She is survived by two sons, Roy Bermudez of ‘Ele‘ele and Godofredo Bermudez of Hanapepe; three daughters, Elizabeth Bermudez of California, and Emilia Navarro and Maria Vega, both of Hanapepe; and one sister, Felipa Javillonar of the Philippines. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, March 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. at ‘Ele‘ele Sacred Hearts Church and again on Saturday, March 6, from 8 to 9:45 a.m. with service at 10 a.m. at ‘Ele‘ele Sacred Hearts Church.
The family suggests casual attire. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Gladys Kikuchi
Gladys Kikue Kikuchi of ‘Oma‘o died at her home on Feb. 22, 2004, at the age of 93.
Born Sept. 15, 1910 in Lawa‘i Stables, she moved to Honolulu at an early age where she worked at American Fence Company, in the hotel industry and as owner of a flower shop. In 1934, she met her husband of 65 years, the late Edward Goro Kikuchi. The couple retired to Kaua‘i in 1977 where they were active in the Koloa Hongwanji and in Koloa Senior Center activities.
She was preceded in death last year by her son Dr. William “Pila” Kikuchi. She is survived by her son Bert (Irish) Kikuchi of Maui and daughter-in-law Dolly Kikuchi of ‘Oma‘o; six grandchildren; four great grand-children; brother Shigekazu (Tsuruye) Nishi of New Mill; sister Misako Kawamoto of Koloa; sisters-in-law Misayo Kikuchi of Honolulu and Natsu Kikuchi of Los Angeles; nephew and caregiver Katsuo Kikuchi of ‘Oma‘o; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Friends may visit with the family after 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary. Services will begin at 2 p.m. with inurnment to follow at a later date.
The family requests aloha attire and that flowers be omitted. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, Box 28, Lihu‘e, HI 96766. They may be earmarked for the Relay for Life “Pila’s Pals” team.
