George Allen
George Cyrus Allen, 72, of Ellsworth, Maine, died on Feb. 9, 2004 at his home with family in Koloa.
Born on May 24, 1931, in Melrose, Mass., he served for two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in postwar Germany. Along with his father and grandfather, he started a small blueberry-processing freezer, pioneering the use of IQF (Individual Quick Freeze) in the blueberry industry. In the late 1960s, with a partner, he built the Maine Coast Mall and Holiday Inn.
He was predeceased by his parents, M. Elizabeth (Cummings) Allen and R. Thurston Allen; his son, Matthew S. Allen; and daughter-in-law, Nora Therese Allen. He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Smith) Allen of Franklin, Maine; sons, Gregory G. Allen of St. Charles, Mo., Jason T. Allen and Jennifer James of Trenton and Andrew P. Allen and Alice (Bolstridge) Allen of Ellsworth, Maine; four grandsons and one granddaughter; two brothers, Peter T. Allen of Union, Maine, Roy P. Allen II of Ellsworth, Maine; sister Lorraine (Allen) Saunders of Southwest Harbor, Maine; and their spouses, Carol, Ardis and Joseph, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held in the spring. Gifts in Allen’s memory may be sent to Kauai Hospice, P.O. Box 3286, Lihu‘e, HI 96766.
Feliza Cuizon
Feliza Ortiz Cuizon of ‘Oma‘o, died on Feb. 21, 2004 at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, Calif. at the age of 82.
Born in Honolulu on Feb. 19, 1922, she was a buyer for Big Save, Inc.
She is survived by three daughters: Marsha (Greg) Hinnold; Carmen (Dr. Ishmael) Stagner II; and Suzette Cuizon; one son, Dennis Cuizon; three sisters: Constance Acquino, Julie Smith, Aurora Lo; three brothers: Lucas Ortiz, Eduardo Malapit, William Ortiz; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 5, at St. Raphael’s Church from 1 p.m. Services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Raphael’s Church Cemetery. Aloha attire is suggested.

Sarah Kaohi
Sarah Kuulei Kaohi of Waimea, died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on Feb. 23, 2004 at the age of 85.
Born in Waimea Valley on Jan. 5, 1919, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by son, Hugh (Dorothy) Naumu of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, the Rev. Thelma Blake of Koloa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Hanapepe Hawaiian Congregational Church.
