“I want to make sure we get through the (renovation) and become certified as a Marriott product,” he said. “This will be a great benefit for tourism on the island.”
Okamoto brings more than 20 years of hotel hospitality experience to his new role.
“I am confident that Glenn, who is well-grounded in Marriott operations, will be a great asset to Hawai‘i’s first Courtyard brand hotel, and that he will be an ideal liaison in Marriott and Presidio relations,” said Stan Brown, vice president, Marriott International, Pacific Islands and Japan.
Okamoto was most recently director of guest relations at Maui Marriott Resort and Ocean Club.
He was responsible for all front office operations and guest relations for the 275-room and 196-vacation ownership villas resort located in Maui.

In 1995, he served as the director of rooms for Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club where he was part of the new hotel opening team that oversaw the front office and housekeeping operations.
Okamoto was recognized with an honorable mention for the Hawaii Hotel and Lodging Association’s “Manager of the Year” in 2003.
In 1999, he was also part of the Marriott International “Installation Systems” consultant team dispatched to Panama City in Central America to convert, install and train associates on the Fidelio Front Office Systems.
