The KIF champion Waimea High School girls softball team will be leaving Wednesday as Kaua‘i’s representative in the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) state softball championships that begin Feb. 11-14 at the University of Hawai‘i wahine softball stadium.
Waimea will be the sole KIF representative in the 12-team field for Division I softball that will pit the Menehune against two teams from the Big Island (BIIF), two teams from the ILH, two from Maui (MIL), and five from the OIA.
Waiakea and Kea‘au represent the BIIF, Kamehameha-O‘ahu and Punahou will play under the ILH banner, Lahainaluna and Baldwin hail from the MIL, and defending champion Kailua, Kapolei, Mililani, Pearl City, and Castle will represent the OIA.
Seedings in the Data House Division I state softball championships are expected to be released over the weekend, and will be presented along with the opening schedule on release.
