LOS GATOS, CA. — The Hawai’i women’s tennis team opened its 2004 Spring season with a 7-0 shutout of Western Athletic Conference foe, San Jose State on Thursday.
The Rainbow Wahine (1-1) played its first match since a loss to Stanford, Nov. 28 at Kapalua. UH won all six singles matches including junior Kimberly Curtis’ 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Rachel Pua. Curtis went on to partner with sophomore Renata Camargo for an 8-2 doubles victory which helped UH get on the scoreboard first by sweeping all three doubles contests for an early 1-0 lead.
Justine Boutet and Marargo also captured their singles matches in straight sets, each taking one of their games 6-0. Lauren Fitzgerald won her match after her opponent Ana Lukner retired due to a back injury.
