Some time during the night of Thursday, Jan. 29 or the early morning of Friday, Jan. 30, gunshots were fired into the offices of the Kaua’i Island Utility Cooperative at 4463 Pahe’e St., a KIUC spokesperson said.
There were no injuries, but some damage was done to windows and walls of a second-floor conference room near the office of Alton Miyamoto, KIUC president and chief executive officer, said Anne Barnes, KIUC spokesperson.
The windows targeted face Kaumuali’i Highway, and Barnes counted at least four bullet holes in one wall of the KIUC conference room, which was vacant at the time the shots were fired.
Kaua’i Police Department officers have begun an investigation into the matter, and have asked anyone with information about the incident to please call the KPD dispatch line, 241-1711.
