The Wailua girls 14 and under basketball team captured top honors in sportsmanship, participation, and overall play in the recently-completed county’s 14 and under girls basketball season.
Under the coaching of Talbert Tacbian and Amanda Higa, the Wailua girls got the top slot in sportsmanship with 938 points over second place Kilauea who finished with 896 points under coach Mitsu Yokotake.
Third place went to Lihu’e under coach Billy Ramos with 825 points, just three points better than Kapa’a coached by Jojo Caspillo.
Westside Hornets II and I and In Yo Face rounded out that bracket.
Wailua also topped the participation category with 173 points, again besting Kilauea who finished with 144 points.
Kapa’a, Westside Hornets II, Westside Hornets I, Lihu’e, and In Yo Face rounded out those standings.
Two points separated Wailua from Westside Hornets II in the overall category, Wailua finishing the season with 144 points over the Hornets II’s 142 points.
Westside Hornets I, Kilauea, Kapa’a, In Yo Face, and Lihu’e rounded out that category.
Maynard Shea was the coach for the Westside Hornets I and II teams with coach Daniel Simao at the helm of In Yo Face.
