This time of the year makes us think of all the blessings we’ve received throughout the year. It’s a time to give thanks for all we’ve received and were able to give.
It’s a time to say thank you to all who had supported our family, Peggy, Kolea, and myself. It’s also a time to say thank you to the Garden Island newspaper, ILWU, SHOPO, HSTA, HGEA, UPW, Kiwanis, Rotary, Lions, and parents who have shared their support and concerns for Kauai children’s education.
Test scores have improved over the years but we cannot base our judgment of public schools on test scores only. Performance related to the amount of students going on to further education, military, and employment are also important criteria for judging our schools and everyone involved in your child’s education.
I’m proud of our young people and their performance in life. This doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t continue to strive to improve the content of our people’s education as you have supported our young people’s education this past year. I ask for your continued support next year.
