LIHU‘E — Justyn Perreira had a special night Friday as he plucked not one, but three interceptions as the Kaua‘i High School JV team finished their season with a 6-0 win over Waimea High School at Vidinha Stadium.
Alan Kalili took care of the business end with a one-handed catch of a Tron Rule pass in the first quarter.
Waimea answered in the second quarter as Nash Danley-Bermoy plucked a Rule airball to Jett Jasper and ran it 53 yards into the end zone only to have the play nullified on a Menehune infraction.
Enter Perreira who stopped the drive with the first of his two interceptions of Kenny Estes’ passes, the second Perreira pluck coming with just 10 seconds left in the half.
But, it was not over for Perreira, who smiling over his achievement, finished the night with his third interception with 58 seconds left on the clock, icing the Kaua‘i win.
Then, it was off to do escort duty for Freshman representative Kristi Celebrado.
