Nicodemes Torio
Nicomedes Estrada Torio of Kilauea, died at his residence on October 17, 2003, at the age of 93.
Born in San Manuel, Pangasinan, Philippines on Sept. 26, 1910, he was a retired Ditch Irrigator with Kilauea Sugar Plantation, he also worked with Pioneer Seed Co. and the County of Kaua‘i Beautification Department.
He is survived by his sons, James (Marie) Torio, Solomon (Joan) Torio, Anthony Torio and Thomas Torio both of Kilauea; daughter, Lynette Viluan of Kilauea; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the family residence on Kilauea Road; visitation also from 11 a.m. to noon at the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, mass at noon, burial will be private. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Laura Furtado
Laura Alga “Lolita” Furtado of Makaha, O‘ahu, and formerly of Lawa‘i, died Oct. 26, 2003, at Queen’s Medical Center, at the age of 35.
Born in Kahuku, O‘ahu, she was a housekeeper, a cashier for FastStop, and an avid member of the Hawaii Game Breeders Association.
Preceded in death by her parents, Earl Joseph and Sylvia Kay Furtado, she is survived by her fiancé, Manuel Ramos; brothers, Earl Joseph “Bully” (Rita) Furtado and Robert Furtado; sisters, Bernadette (Gabriel) Aguilera, Sheila Furtado, Elizabeth (Timothy Oga) Furtado, Patricia (James) Muasau, and Jessica Furtado; nephews, nieces, cousins, and many other relatives.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on O‘ahu; service sill begin at 11 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by Moanalua Mortuary.
