HONOLULU — The Retail Merchants of Hawai‘i have honored Honolulu-based Hilo Hattie, “The Store of Hawai‘i,” with a Ho‘okela Award, at their annual awards ceremony.
The operator of nine store locations throughout Hawai‘i, as well as five on the Mainland, Hilo Hattie was presented with the “Resort Retail Business of the Year” award for its commitment to the growth and development of the retail industry in Hawai‘i.
“Since opening its doors on the island of Kaua‘i in 1963, Hilo Hattie has strived to offer its customers the ultimate Hawaiian shopping experience,” said Paul deVille, Hilo Hattie president and chief executive officer.
“We receive this award humbly, and are deeply honored to be grouped with the outstanding organizations throughout the state that are committed to the growth of the retail industry in the islands. We attribute much of this recognition to our ‘ohana of employees who do a tremendous job of sharing the aloha spirit with our customers, both visitor and kama‘aina alike.”
Celebrating 40 years of resort retailing in Hawai‘i, Hilo Hattie is the world’s largest manufacturer of Hawaiian, resort and casual fashions, offering hundreds of exclusive prints and styles that each cater to different lifestyles.
As Hawai‘i’s leading retail source for Hawaiian and island lifestyle products, Hilo Hattie also offers a myriad of merchandise items, including Hawaiian housewares, party favors, gourmet products, T-shirts, beauty products, chocolates, Hawaiian coffee, and Hawaiian music and books.
