Paying too much
I am a firm believer in the capitalist system but I am very disturbed by the price of gas. TV the other day reported gas in Oklahoma was $1.41 per gallon.
Why then are we paying $2.27 on Kaua‘i? I think we need some explanation from the industry or an investigation into their pricing practices. How about Linda Lingle looking into this?

Fix Polihale road!
In the spring of 2002, I moved back to Kekaha to be with my Mom who turned ninety years old. I left Kaua‘i (over 45 years ago) after graduating from Waimea High School, Class of 1958. Adjusting to the quiet, slow moving pace of Kekaha after living in White Plains, New York for 20 years is a challenging experience!
Kaua‘i is still the Garden Island of the Pacific – it’s lush beauty and the Aloha Spirit is still evident as I renew my own spirits as a returning resident.
My sister (Carlina Tumbaga Vea), my niece (Marlina Vea Jimenez) and I were out picking Job’s Tears one day along the road to Polihale in January. It was a cloudy, about to rain kind of day… but nonetheless, we set out. The potholes on the dirt road to Polihale are outrageous and dangerous! Surely no tourist in their right mind (and a bad back) would make a second trip to the beautiful Polihale State Park with such uncomfortable driving conditions… and what about us locals? Please FIX THE ROAD to Polihale! It will surely enhance the tourist industry on Kaua‘i.
It’s good to be back home on our island paradise.
