BYU-Hawai‘i sweeps Lady ‘Stangs

Brigham Young University-Hawai‘i women’s volleyball team swept Western New Mexico Friday in the Pacific West Conference opener for both teams, 30-15, 30-28, 30-15.

Senior middle blocker Ashley Moeai led the win behind 13 kills and six blocks.

All-American Yu Chuan Weng smacked 11 kills for the second-ranked Seariders, and newcomer Silvia Oliveira knocked down nine as BYUH improved to 6-2 on the season, and 1-0 in the conference.

Moeai led the Seasiders in hitting percentage at .400 on a night when the team hit an uncharacteristically low .173 for the match. However, the Seasider defense kept the Lady ‘Stangs to just .037 for the night.
