Surf classic at ‘Queen’s Break’
The Aston Hotels Surf Classic will be the fifth and final event in this summer’s Steinlager Series, presented by the Hawaii Longboard Federation.
The Aston Hotels Surf Classic will take place at Kuhio Beach’s popular, and normally crowded, Queen’s Break, Sept. 20 – 21 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. More than 175 will compete in 13 divisions, including the $2,000 Hawaii Pacific University (H.P.U.) Pro Division. Regular professional world class competitors include former World Longboard Champions Rusty Keaulana and beachboy legend Rabbit Kekai.

UH wahine soccer hosts Cornell
The University of Hawai‘i Wahine soccer team look to keep their winning streak going when they host Cornell in the Ohana Hotels and Resorts shootout Saturday starting at 7 p.m.
Since dropping their season opener against No. 11 Arizona State, UH has gone unbeaten in its last six matches, including this past weekend when they exploded for 13 goals to capture the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Soccer Classic.
Senior midfielder Mia Moe will sit out this weekend’s match due to a sprained left knee suffered at Long Beach State.
Cornell comes to Hawai‘i with a record of 3-1-1.
BYU men’s water polo team ranked No. 17
The Brigham Young University – Hawai‘i men’s water polo team was ranked No. 17 in the Men’s National Collegiate Top 20 Poll released Wednesday. The BYU Seasiders gained five points in the poll with 21, but were unable to advance despite winning their first match of the season, 18 – 2 agaisnt Chaminade.
The Seasiders are on the road next week, playing No. 1-ranked Stanford and No. 3-ranked California on Wednesday and Thursday.
They also play UC – Santa Cruz Tuesday and finish up the week in the Santa Cruz Slugfest Friday and Saturday, playing Santa Clara, MIT, Air Force and UC – Davis.
