LIHU‘E — The 2003 Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau Fair opened last night on the grounds of Vidinha Stadium.
The event is being sponsored by Meadow Gold, and features exhibits of local produce and animals, informational booths from a wide variety of organizations, carnival rides, live entertainment, and a wide variety of local foods.
About 50,000 attend the fair each year, making it one of the biggest events of the year on Kaua‘i.
The fair reopens today at 6 p.m., and runs to midnight. The night is sponsored by the Kauai Community Federal Credit Union.
Events tonight include the 4-H beef steer, lamb, hog and broiler shows in the livestock area. A special “Germ City” is being set up until 10 p.m., beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The Kauai Beef Promotional Cook-off & Samples is also open in the livestock area.
At 6:45 p.m., the Lifetime Band from KCCC performs in the entertainment tent.
The Tropical Flower Arranging & Designs event is being held until 10 p.m. in the agricultural exhibit tent
The Blond Boys are scheduled to perform in the entertainment tent, followed by Rumbletones.
On Saturday, the fair is open from noon to midnight, and on Sunday, the final day of the fair, from noon to 11 p.m.
