Today, beginning at 5 p.m., the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort & Beach Club’s Grand Ballroom will be transformed into a tropical Hawaiian forest, as the Kauai Museum celebrates “The Year of the Hawaiian Forest.”
The Kauai Museum Summer Benefit will raise funds to revitalize the museum’s historic buildings that have been home to collections for the past 43 years.
This year, the Brothers Cazimero headline the entertainment. Roland and Robert Cazimero achieve a full sound that emanates from their voices and an acoustic bass and 12-string guitar.
Additional musical performances will be by Kainani Kahaunaele and the Wish List Band. From Kaua‘i, Kahaunaele was born and raised in Anahola, and is a graduate of Kapaa High School. She currently lives on the Big Island, and is a Hawaiian-language instructor at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. She also teaches Hawaiian language at the Punana Leo Hawaiian-immersion preschool in Hilo. She credits her love of music to her high school music teacher, Renee Thronas.
Kahaunaele rarely appears on Kaua‘i. Her current CD, “Na ‘U ‘Oe,” is available on Kaua‘i.
Hal Kinnaman and Paul Togioka will also perform.
Tickets may be purchased by calling 245-6931.
