Following the day of competition featuring skills learned by the junior water safety officers, a select team of 32 members was chosen to represent Kaua‘i at the State Junior Lifeguard Championships which will be held this Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Ala Moana Beach Park on O‘ahu.
Included in the group are defending state champions Emma Makepa-Foley, Fletcher Parker, Noelani Moeller, and the girls 13-14 Paddle board relay team.
Kaua‘i water safety officer Aaron Habermann coordinated this year’s event and credited the success to the many sponsors that contributed to the program, enabling Kaua‘i to send a full contingent to the state competition.
These sponsors are headed by the KONG Radio Group, The Fun Factory, and Duke’s Canoe Club.
For those wishing to contribute to the Kaua‘i Junior Lifeguard Program, contributions may be mailed to: Kaua‘i Lifeguard Association, P. O. Box 443, Lihu‘e, HI 96766.
Checks should be made payable to the Kaua‘i Lifeguard Association, Memo: Junior Lifeguard Program.
