Local surfer and filmmaker present “Crossing the Line”
“Crossing the Line,” a film by Joel Guy, in conjunction with Grass Shack Productions, is scheduled to premier on Tuesday, August 5 at the Kilauea Theatre. Showtime is 8 p.m.
The surfing film stars Hanalei pro surfers Bruce Irons and his brother, reigning world pro surf champion Andy Irons, as well as former pro world champions Kelly Slater and Sunny Garcia.
A highlight of the film is Florida surfer Corey Lopez’s remarkable ride last spring at Teahupoo in Tahiti.
Filmmaker Joel Guy is from the North Shore of Kaua‘i, and purposedly excluded Kaua‘i footage from the film, instead focusing on the Kaua‘i surfers riding waves on O‘ahu, in Australia, Indonesia and Tahiti.
“The film highlights the new breed of surfing that combines fearlessness and skills that will blow your mind,” Guy says.
