FARMINGTON, NEW MEXICO — Hawaii’s National Rodeo qualifiers completed the first round of competition.
The second round commenced Thursday and ends Saturday evening with the final round on Sunday.
On Wednesday, the Hawaii Team played a grueling volleyball game against Kansas. In the end, Kansas proved a stronger foe.
Kaua‘i participants completing round one and moving onto round two are: Randy Brun in Team Roping and Calf Roping, Kurtis Low and Marcus Laymon in Team Roping, and none other than Miss Alana Brun in Goat Tying.
Waimea prevails in tourney
KALAHEO — Josey Jacinto and Natalie Mata combined for 12 points in helping the Waimea girls 17 and under team best the Kaua‘i Fire Raiders 2 29-15 in a playoff game on Tuesday night.
Lindsey Sugihara scored five points for the Fire Raiders 2.
In the other matchup, the Bus Drivers beat the Kaua‘i Fire Raiders 1 27-19 as Val Aficial scored seven points for the winners while Mei-Ling Keopuhiwa scored five for Kaua‘i.
