Big Save’s Berquist leads human-resources society

Lisen Berquist, human-resource manager for Big Save, Inc., is the president of the Kauai chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

At their last meeting, chapter members introduced their newest member, Patricia Fleck, a job developer in the state’s WorkWise! program.

They also heard from Karla Merry, a certified professional disability manager, who talked about stress claims in the workplace.

The Kauai chapter of SHRM is linked with the international organization that represents over 150,000 human-resource professionals.

Lori Uyeda, recruitment coordinator for Hawaii Pacific Health, is the Kauai chapter’s vice president. Stephanie Taniguchi, benefits specialist for Hawaii Pacific Health, is treasurer. Deborah Baker, human resources director for the Princeville Resort, is secretary.
