Rodeo event held on Big Island
This past weekend’s rodeo was held at the Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena on the Big Island and was the Hawaiian High School State Championships.
The Koloa Plantation Days event will be held in July.
On Friday evening, Hawaiian State, Double Mugging and Poo Waiu events took place.
On Saturday and Sunday, the regular rodeo and Hawaii National High School competition was held.
The Garden Island sports department regrets any inconvenience.
Coyote crew takes race
Last Saturday’s boat race hosted by The Nawiliwili Yacht Club ended in a close win for the Coyote crew.
The course ran around four buoys and back to the starting line. The Papa Au crew crossed the finish line seconds before the Coyote crew.
After the time adjusted handicap was taken, the Coyote crew was declared the winner.
Winds of 10 to 15 knots allowed the teams to use their colorful spinnakers, which increased boat speed.
The eight mile race was held in Nawiliwili Harbor. It was the fifth race in the Feature Boat series. Most races include nine crews.
