The full moon for June came about an hour after the passing of Friday the 13th early Saturday morning, but not without incident.
A report from a resident of Kapaa town said Kauai Police Department patrol cars chased a car through Kapaa town at about 1 a.m. Saturday. The report said the car had driven down from Kuhio Highway toward the ocean, but couldn’t make the left turn onto a back street, and plowed into a stop sign. The driver then crossed an empty grass lot to the end of the road, driving through a chain blocking access to the shoreline, pulling a concrete post out of the ground.
The car ended up on the grass past the coastal bike path slammed up against an old pine tree.
The report had the driver jumping into the ocean after fleeing from the car.
