According to the school’s graduation exercise program, 260 seniors received diplomas on Friday night.
Inside the school’s packed Bernice Hundley gymnasium, Mayor Bryan Baptiste delivered the commencement address. His daughter Heather was among the graduates.
Valedictorian addresses were delivered by Jillian Carmichael, Kyle Mahoney, Raysha Sadang, Deidra Spencer, and Ricky Roderick, who presented a rap-influenced talk to a thunderous applause from the audience.
Student body president Nely Villanueva began the evening with a speech.
The class graduation song was reggae master Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds.”
Principal Gilmore Youn presented diplomas to the students.
A computerized slide show, using twin projectors, presented a nostalgic look back at photos of Kapaa seniors in elementary school, middle school and from their years at the high school.
