Fujii, Bukoski lead batters in Senior Softball wins

Dwight Fujii whacked three hits to lead the Lihue A’s to a 9-2 win over Kawaihau in the first of three games played Saturday at Isenberg Field in the latest round of senior softball.

Ismo Yoshishige, Glenn Akina, and Yuki Shigeta paired hits in the win that was credited to Buster Matsumura on the mound.

Ken Tamashiro and Ron Alfonso led the Kawaihau bats with a pair of hits each.

Fujii’s bat continued to sizzle into the second contest as he homered in this 3-hit contribution in Lihue’s 9-6 win over East Kauai.

Yoshishige and Tomo Hiranaka added to the firepower with three hits apiece.

Joe Brun picked up the Lihue win on the mound over Walter Silva.

Alex Youn led the East Kauai bats with three hits followed by Don Boro, Damien victorino, and Al Salvador with a pair of hits each for East Kauai.

Archie Fontanilla picked up his sixth win on the hill by allowing only four hits as the Rookies blanked Kuku’s Aces 31-0 in the third matchup of the day.

Ray Espino sparked the Rookies’ hitting with a 2-run homer on four hits with Fontanilla picking up a 2-run bang on two hits. Wally Sonoda also chalked up four hits in the outing.

Nilo ruiz, Solo Reyes, Tada Hashimoto, and Sonny Hoopii were credited with the Kuku’s hits.

Ray Espino suffered the loss on the Kuku’s hill.

Frank Bukoski banged a homer on three hits to lead West Kauai in their 16-10 win over K-Makules with Joe Silva picking up the West Kauai win on the mound.

Larry Ephan also pounded out a homer on three hits with Brudda Rietmeister going 3-for-3 in the box.

Dernie Domingo homered on three hits with Doric Remata knocking out another homer on a pair of hits to lead the K-Makules with Lefty Remata suffering the loss on the mound.

Bukoski switched from the batter’s box to the mound to lead West Kauai to their second victory of the day, pitching to a 36-4 win over Kuku’s Aces.

Bernard Simao led the West Kauai hitters with a 2-run homer on five hits with Ephan and Bukoski firing solo homers on three hits each.

Kaleo Furtado picked up three hits for Kuku’s Aces.

Saturday’s contest moves to the Eleele Field with West Kauai (5-1) taking on the Lihue A’s (4-2) in the opener.

West Kauai (5-1) will take on Kuku’s Aces (1-5) in the second contest with Kwaihau (0-6) attempting to score a win against East Kauai (1-5) in the third contest. K-Makules (3-3) will try to topple the Rookies (6-0) in the finale.
