About four dozen vehicles were scratched up at both Kuhio Motors locations last weekend, leading the company to offer a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
The vandalism is believed to have occurred during the late evening hours of Saturday, May 17 or early morning hours of Sunday, May 18. The Kapaa incident was reported to the Kauai Police Department May 18 at about 1:12 p.m. Kuhio Motors staff would not immediately comment on the incidents.
According to Police Chief George Freitas, detectives are looking at possible suspects and continue to investigate the vandalism.
Kuhio Motors, located in Lihue on Aukele Street and in Kapaa next to Burger King on Kuhio Highway, is like other car lots on Kauai in that it doesn’t have tall fences, gates or other security measures to keep people off premises during non-business hours.
