Na Pali Kayak Tours officials recently announced the launching of its third season taking Kaua’i visitors and residents on guided tours down Na Pali Coast.
Na Pali Kayak Tours is one of three companies with permits to run kayak tours from the island’s North Shore, and begins its season this Thursday, May 15.
“Setting out first thing in the morning with a group of six to 12 people, you are immersed into the true natural beauty of the island,” said owner Doug Manning.
“There’s a good reason National Geographic ranked kayaking Na Pali Coast the number-two adventure in America,” Manning said.
Na Pali Kayak Tours’ experienced guides take participants in and out of sea caves, to great snorkeling spots (if time and conditions allow) and along Kalalau Beach and Miloli’i State Park.
Paddling a sit-on-top, two-person kayak, which Manning says it the safest kind for this type of journey, it’s not unusual for participants to be joined by playful dolphins or sea turtles.
“My experience with Doug Manning and Na Pali Kayak Tours was exceptional,” said Wendy Melito of Santa Ana, Calif. “I felt the tour was organized, ran smoothly, and was very safe,” she said.
After meeting at the Na Pali Kayak Tour office in Hanalei at 6 a.m., the group launches from Ha’ena Beach Park at around 7 a.m. The excursion lasts all day. Lunch is included in the tour price, and a company van picks the group up at Polihale State Park.
Participants should be physically fit, in good health, and possess an adventurous spirit, Manning said. The tours are offered only from mid-May to mid-September, when Na Pali Coast waters are normally calm enough for the kayaks.
