Susan Kleiner to speak at Wilcox Memorial Hospital
Susan M. Kleiner, Ph.D., RD, FACN, CNS will speak at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April 30, at 6:30 p.m.
She will tall on eating the right foods and maintaining a strong and healthy body.
Sponsored by Get Fit Kauai and Wilcox Health, “Food as Fuel: Changing the Weight Loss Paradigm” is a free community education session, which will be held in conference rooms ABC at the hospital.
Light and healthy refreshments will be served, and reservations for a seat can be made by calling 245-1005.
Kleiner is in Hawai’i for a brief visit, attending a special seminar at the University of Hawai’i in Manoa as a panelist, and will be on Kaua’i for only one day for this presentation.
Her talk will focus on increasing positive health behaviors. “Weight loss is not a goal, but a long term outcome of achieving many small short term goals toward healthful lifestyle habits. Rather than eating less and tearing our bodies down, we need to increase calories to increase exercise intensity, to build muscle and strength, then burn fat. This is the road to long term health and body weight maintenance,” she says.
