Kaua’i paddlers finish strong at event

A.E. “Toots” Minivielle Invitational Regatta sponsored by the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation held on Saturday and Sunday (one man canoes)

Keiki paddling cres, ages 10 to 18, from Tahiti, Maui, Kauai, the Big Island and Oahu competed in a “world sprints” format in Na Opio Canoe Racing Association’s (NOCRA) annual invitational event.

NOCRA is a non-profit organization, which hosts seven outrigger canoeing events each year and is sponsored by the Police Activities League (PAL) and the Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association (HCRA). The following winners are from Kaua’i:

Event 3: 2nd place, Koa Waa O Kauai, Maliana Hamada, 3.49.71

Event 4: 9th place, Kauai, Justyn Perreira, 3.51.99

Event 5: 5th place, Koa Waa O Kauai, Candace La’amea, 3.28.79

9th place, Koa Waa O Kauai, Jennifer Whitfield, 3.57.22

Event 6: 3rd place: Koa Waa O Kauai, Brian Rodriguez, 2.43.25

6th place: Koa Waa O Kauai, Preston Ramson, 2.56.91

Event 7: 5th place: Koa Waa O Kauai, Ashlee Fujimoto, 3.15.26

7th place: Koa Waa O Kauai, Donna Robles, 3.18.86

Event 8: 2nd place: Koa Waa O Kauai, Kelly Foster, 2.41.00

5th place: Koa Waa O Kauai, Thomas Oliver, 2.48.65

9th place: Puuwai, Justin Teves, 3.07.45

Event 19: 5th place, Koa Waa O Kauai 1, 4.25.88

8th place Koa Waa O Kauai 2, 4.41.65

Event 20: 1st place: Koa Waa O Kauai 2, 4.17.25, crew: Ashlee Fujimoto, Kelly Foster, Donna Robles, Luke Evslin, Kristin Mackenzie, Thomas Oliver.
