Winter weather whirling over Kaua’i

A weather front is expected to bring light rain to all districts of Kaua’i by about mid-day today with Kona winds from the southwest still blowing at about 10 to 20 mph with localized gusts in the afternoon.

The rain follows a day of strong southwest Kona winds on Friday, and a record-low temperature recorded at Lihu’e Airport on Thursday.

The National Weather Service at Lihu’e Airport recorded a low of 54 degrees in the early morning hours Thursday. The previous low for the day was 56 degrees in 1959.
