Boston Hair Design, along Kaumuali’i Highway across from Kauai Community College in Puhi, celebrated its grand opening in huge style recently.
Nearly 70 prizes were given away during the gala, including a makeover valued at around $200 that included hair cut, color and blow dry, plus a manicure and pedicure.
The salon is on the second floor of the building between Grove Farm headquarters and Paradise Seafood & Grill.
Besides around 300 product samples given away and the grand-prize makeover, certificates were given to lucky salon visitors for 20 haircuts, 20 manicures, 20 nail-art applications and four full sets of acrylic nails.
In addition, three separate gift baskets of hair-care products, of varying sizes and with retail values from $65 to $165, were given away, said co-owner Ann Marie Semonian.
Joni-Hana of Kukui Grove Center provided food for the festivities, and Rachel Wilson of KONG Radio Group got a makeover in the salon for all to see.
Stephanie Gailey, formerly of Nails 2 Go at Ahukini Road and Kuhio Highway in Lihu’e, has relocated to Boston Hair Design, and Laura Walraven also does nails at the new shop.
Cathy Hensley, formerly with Christine Robin Hair Design in Koloa, has also joined Boston Hair Design, delighting owners and operators Rick and Ann Marie Semonian.
The new salon has specials good the entire month of December, including haircuts for two people for the price of one for new clients, and 20 percent off all retail products.
