HILO – The Waimea Menehune girls volleyball team fell to Moanalua 4-15, 7-15 Wednesday in the opening round of the Nissan Girls State Volleyball Tournament at the Afook-Chinen Civin Auditorium in Hilo.
The Menehune will next face Kalaheo today at 2 p.m. in the consolation bracket. Kalaheo lost to Iolani earlier in the day, 5-15, 7-15.
The Menehune kill leaders included Jannah Tafua-3, Britnee Boeder-2, Faafonga Taala-2, and Virginia Aguilar-2.
Aguilar led Waimea with two blocks.
Moanalau’s Danie Hout led the way with 11 kills.
Ashley Gandauli added 7, and Patti Hardimon, Sanoe Eselu, Sina Nataniela and Jamie Gaison each chipped in two.
