JoAnna J. Voyles of Koloa has launched her own medical-billing business, J. Medical Management, offering billing services to doctors so they can spend more time on providing patient care.
A graduate of The Academy of Medical Billing, Voyles is trained in claims processing, and is offering billing services to local doctors as a way to save them time and money.
By not having to worry about office supplies, billing staff pay and benefits, software upgrades and upkeep, and billing training for staff, doctors can save money by outsourcing medical billing, which is done by J. Medical Management in a professional, confidential manner, she said.
With billing functions taken out of the doctor’s office, he or she is free to spend more time, energy and work space providing patient care, instead of worrying about billing and insurance payments, or additional staff, added Voyles.
J. Medical Management offers full patient accounting, patient billing, data and claims processing and entry, claims submission electronically and via regular mail, follow-up on unpaid or rejected claims, and more.
Besides a set-up fee starting at $300 and depending on size of practice and other factors, J. Medical Management only gets paid when the doctor gets paid, she said. Fees are percentages of payments collected, between 7 percent and 10 percent depending again on the size of practice, levels of service provided, procedures, office visits and other criteria.
Open-ended contracts and agreements allow either party to cancel any agreement with a simple, 30-day written notification.
Being able to set her own work hours made starting the business appealing, and may eventually make her less dependent on her job in the visitor industry, where she works regularly and on nearly every major holiday, she said.
Voyles works out of her home in Koloa. For more information, please call 742-1379.
