Mayor Maryanne Kusaka is in the middle of her last extended trip to promote Kaua’i.
At least as mayor.
Kusaka is in Toronto, Canada, meeting with travel agents from that city, and attending the Travel and Leisure Show that runs through this Sunday, Nov. 3.
Along with Kusaka are Gini Kapali, director of the county Office of Economic Development; Nalani Brun of that office; Sandi Kato-Klutke of Aston Poipu Kai; entertainers Doric Yaris and Ray Duarte; Kahanu Smith; Margy Parker, executive director of the Poipu Beach Resort Association; Lucy Bernard; and others, according to Jenny Fujita, county public information officer.
Kusaka and Kapali will leave Toronto earlier than some of the other promoters in order to attend opening ceremonies of the American Society of Travel Agents 72nd World Travel Congress.
The ASTA World Travel Congress runs from this Sunday, Nov. 3, through Friday, Nov. 8, at the Hawaii Convention Center in Waikiki. Kusaka and the County of Kaua’i are hosting a Kaua’i reception at the convention, Fujita said.
