LIHUE – Layton Tani drove in the winning run in the sixth inning for the Hard Knocks, who edged Universal Delivery 4-3 Tuesday in Lihue.
Norman Holt Jr. took the win for Hard Knocks, allowing 11 hits. Peter Ishibashi took the loss for Universal.
Tani had two singles with his rbi. Miles Aquino had a double and two rbis. And Nelson Panuit and Shelly Bonachita each added two singles for the Hard Knocks.
Russell Nakata led Universal with one rbi on two hits. Mel Yamase reached first base twice.
Youngblood 3, Ikaika 2
Ikaika attempted a rally with a run in the sixth, but Youngblood ultimately held them off and won 3-2 in the second game Tuesday in Lihue.
Sandy Pacheco allowed six hits in seven innings to get the win; Tomas Quest took the loss for Ikaika.
Darryl Borerro led Youngblood with three singles and two rbis. Wesley Pagador added three hits.
Gordon Doo had two singles and Ikaika’s only rbi. Eric Fujiwara added two singles.
Kaua’i Boys 4, Braddahs 1
The Kaua’i Boys ripped 15 hits but could only get 4 runs to score. But with good defense it didn’t matter. The Kaua’i Boys went on to defeat the Braddahs 4-1 Tuesday in the third slow-pitch softball game in Lihue.
Dee Dee Ibia allowed just nine hits to take the win; Todd Young took the loss for the Braddahs.
Ibia also led the Kaua’i Boys at the plate with two rbis on one single. Ash Ashenbrenner, Harry Best, Owen Kawaihalau and Albert Puig each added two singles. Willie Nuivo had three hits.
Roland Dela Cruz had two singles and one rbi to lead the Braddahs. Robert Labougen added two singles.
