First round of Mitchell Ota Match Play Tourney completed

The first round matches for the Kaua’i Junior Golf Association’s Mitchell Ota Match Play Tournament were completed Saturday, August 3.

The Semifinals and final matches will be played this Saturday and Sunday, August 10 and August 11, at Wailua Golf Course.

In the Boys 15-18 championship flight, Juston Thomas defeated Layne Morita 6/5. Alan Baab defeated Chris Caycayon 1 up on the 19th hole. Cory French defeated Stephen Peeren 6/5. Erick Wong topped Landon Peeren 6/4.

In the Boys 15-18 A Flight, Mason Koetje topped Martin Antonio 6/4. MJ Soliva beat Keoki Saiki 2/1. Abraham Akutagawa topped Grant Kagawa 3/1.

Jennie Pleas defeated Schelcie Takenouchi 3/2 in the Girls 14-18 Championship Flight.

In the Boys 13-14 Championship Flight, Michael Garcia defeated Bret Netzer 3/2. Brandon Hirota topped TJ Kua 4/3. Jet Levinthol topped Nikko Tacsiat 6/4.

Noel Torres defeated Tyruss Lum 6/5 in the Boys 12-14 Championship Flight.

In th A Flight of that age group, Bubby Saiki defeated Markland Soliva 1 up. Maikai Laureta topped Jetson Wakuta 5/3. Travis Toguchi beat Lambert Guirao 7/6.

In the Girls 13-14 Championship Flight, Miki Ueoka defeated Claire Hirota 2 up.

In the Boys 11-12 Championship Flight, Travis Shigeta topped Cory Oride 2/1, Wiley Yoshioka defeated Byron Rualizo 3/2. Jonathan Ganir got the best of Micah Yoshioka 3/2, and Grante Paiste topped Taylor Bell 4/2.

In the Boys 11-12 A Flight, Kainoa Lemke defeated Ryan Wong 4/2. Mark Guirao topped Sean Callejo 6/5 and Jordan Kai topped Hoku Costa 3/2.

In the Boys and Girls 10-under Championship Flight, Shea Shimabukuro defeated Malia Saiki 4/3. Kelli Oride topped Xavier Guirao 2/1 and Noa Matsuyoshi defeated Kyle Groves 4/3.
