HONOLULU – Kauaians T.J. Kua, Bret Netzer and Chad Nonaka each topped their respective age divisions in another HSJGA Junior Tour Series event, which was completed Wednesday at the Ko’olau Golf Club in Honolulu.
The 11/12 age division for both the boys and the girls were only able to play a stipulated round of 12 holes (par 49). The 10-under boys and girls played 9 holes.
Nonaka and Netzer each shot an 80 to lead the 13/14 boys age group in an 18-hole event at Ko’olau. Mike Garcia, another Kauaian, was just one stroke back at 81. Aaron Aceret shot a 93.
Kua shot a 51 in 12-holes to win the Boys 11/12 division. Oahu’s Brandtlee Maluenda was one stroke back at 52; Kaua’i’s Grante Paiste shot a 66.
For Boys 15/18, Travis Toyama took top honors with a 75 (18-holes). Layne Morita was the only 15/18 golfer from Kaua’i – he ended with an 85.
For the 15/18 girls, Maui’s Kelly Nakashima won with a 79. For the 13/14 girls, Kayla Morinaga won with a 79. Oahu’s Katrina Higa won the 11/12 Girls bracket with a 62; Ryne Mizushima of Oahu won the 10-under Boys bracket with a 39 (9-holes); and Alice Kim of Oahu won the Girls 10-under bracket with a 54.
