Heli USA is now featuring the art of Hawaiian illustrator Herb Kane on the fuselage of a tour helicopter flying out of Princeville Airport. The company held a a blessing ceremony for the helicopter that features Pele’s likeness on Wednesday.

Traveling to Kaua’i to attend the event was Nigel Turner,left, Chief Executive Officer of Las Vegas, Nev.-based Heli USA. The blessing was performed by Kauilani Kahalekai, who incorporated Hawaiian, Japanese and Christian chants and prayer. Joining the group were Princeville-based Heli USA Hawaii General Manager Rich Johnson, John Power, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Heli USA, and; Kenji Takahashi, VP of Asia-Pacific Sales. “We wanted an image on the helicopters to help portray the cultural side of Hawai’i to the rest of the world,” said Turner during a blessing speech. Heli USA execs say that their helicopter tours will be promoted to international and mainland U.S. visitors as a way to show the natural beauty and share Kaua’i legends and culture.
Kaua’i is Heli USA’s first venture in the state, and the company has plans to expand to O’ahu next year. The company operates helicopter tours and adventure-based trips to the Grand Canyon out of Las Vegas. TGI Photo by Tim Delavega
