Swell decrease at Jeffreys postpones Billabong Pro

Jeffreys Bay, South Africa – The Billabong Pro was postponed Friday due to a swell decrease overnight.

Organizers are opting to wait for more ideal conditions before commencing round three of the US$250,000 World Championship Tournament (WCT).

Clean 4ft (1.3m) waves were on offer yesterday morning, though it had been expected to drop more throughout the day. Many of the world’s top rated surfers enjoyed a great practice session, with J-Bay’s famous ‘Supertubes’ line up also greeted by a pod of dolphins.

Another decision will be made Saturday morning as to the event’s schedule.

Heats upcoming: Kaua’i’s Andy Irons will face South Africa’s Sean Holmes, who upset Corey Lopez on Thursday.

Also from Kaua’i, Sunny Garcia (Haw) is up against Australia’s Lee Winkler.
