R. Craig Netzer, MD, is a recent addition to Kauai Medical Clinic’s Internal Medicine and Family Practice Staff. He is a graduate of the University of California at Davis with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Agricultural and Managerial Economics.
R. Craig Netzer, MD, is a recent addition to Kauai Medical Clinic’s Internal Medicine and Family Practice Staff. He is a graduate of the University of California at Davis with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Agricultural and Managerial Economics. He then went on to get his medical degree at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine in Honolulu. Dr. Netzer completed his residency at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia. During his combined Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residency this year, he became board eligible for certification.
While completing his residency, Dr. Netzer volunteered at Every Woman’s Life in Norfolk and Portsmouth, Virgina, working with a medical team that provided free gynecologic care to low income patients without insurance. Dr. Netzer was also a team physician at the Norfolk City Schools District, and involved with Hospice Hawaii and the West Kauai Rural Health Care Project.
During 1992-1994, Dr. Netzer was the President of the University of Hawaii PreMedical Association. He currently belongs to various professional associations, including the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians – American Society of Internal Medicine, American Academy of Family Physicians, and Virginia Academy of Family Physicians. He has been published in the medical literature, including a journal article, “A Radial Expanding Plaque on the Chest.” He also has an unpublished retrospective analysis, entitled Breastfeeding Practices and Infant Health in Rural Kauai.
Dr. Netzer was born in San Francisco, California and raised on Kauai. He attended Kapaa Elementary School and is a graduate of Punahou School. He joins his father, H. Roger Netzer, MD, an Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose and Throat) at Kauai Medical Clinic. This is the first time in Kauai Medical Clinic’s history that a father and son have worked together. In his leisure time, Dr. Netzer enjoys scuba diving, surfing, fishing, hiking and golfing. Dr. Netzer’s office is at the Kauai Medical Clinic in Lihue, and appointments can be made by calling 2451540.
