Happy campers

Marissa Aceret and Kayli Towler, background, both of Kapa’a, get together for some quiet time at the Summer Enrichment Summer Camp being held at Lydgate Park. Aceret and Towler enjoyed the experience and hoped the program could be expanded to a week.

Tamra Duterte, bottom right, ponders how many hot dogs it takes to feed the 104 Summer Enrichment Summer Campers at Lydgate Park as she tends to the campers’ evening meal.

The annual 2 day campout is being coordinated by Kuulei Tamashiro and Ryan Wada with lots of volunteers. The event is made possible through the generous contributions of the Kaua’i Marriott, the Gas Company, and Lihue Bowling Center.

Julia Costa, Kayelyn Kaona, Kyle Kaona, and Lurel Costa enjoy the comforts of home in their tent at the Summer Enrichment Summer Camp at Lydgate Park. The quartet was just a part of the campers from Kekaha to Kilauea that converged for a 2-day outing with the Papaa Bay Boys closing off the camp with a mini-concert on Thursday night.
