A strong comeback effort by the Kalaheo Pistons failed to earn them a berth in the championship game as they fell 27-18 to the Kilauea Lakers who was led by Kapena Gardner-Cummings.
Garrett Sakimae netted 5 points to lead the Kalaheo effort at the net.
The wins by the Westside Hornets and the Kilauea Lakers sets the stage for the Kaua’i Youth Basketball Association (KYBA) title fight in the Boys 14-Under division as both teams tip off at 4 p.m. at the Kaua’i High School gym, the winner claiming the league title in the summer league.
Third place honors will be at stake when the Kapa’a Warriors and the Kalaheo Pistons tip off starting at 3 p.m.
Although details for the KYBA Boys 12-Under games are not available at press time, the championship for that division will also take place at Kaua’i High School starting at 2 p.m. The third place game starts at 1 p.m.
